Thanks for this for information wellknown about Babu but there one thing you forget to put which many zanzibaris are not aware, is that Babu was the mastermind of Zanzibar revolution. As you you said he was a marxist, any marxist does not believe of government obtained by voting or by agreement like that of Mwalimu gaining independence from Britain.Babu get out from ZNP to form Umma party because his marxist ideology cannot be implemented under Ali Muhsin as has politics of ‘muhafidhiin’. It is believed Babu had direct communication with Karume and Nyerere before INDEPENDENCE of Zanzibar and Tanganyika.Nyerere is the one organize the formation of Afroshirazy party.Babu was given a ticket by Nyerere to go to Lancaster house Uk to help Karume in the talks of independence. Babu told karume to accept anything said by A.muhsin but should not accept signing the british to continue protecting Zanzibar so that it will be easy to revolt under their absence and was successful.Babu collaborated with Nyerere and karume to revolt elected Zanzibar government including other peolle from Uganda etc.Is believed Israel also indirectly was involved, there was one popular man with a steamer who moved invaders from mainland to Zanzibar, a wellknown person.The british, America and other countries likei Israel supported revolution by knowing that it was organized by ASP.There calculation went wrong, actually there enemy Babu, the organizer, is behind the ASP. After Revolution, Karume Choose Babu as his foreign Minister, the west inparticular Britain were dissapointed then America enforce union of Tanganyika and Znz as a way to get the communist out of Zanzibar.Because the dream of Nyerere to swallow Zanzibar was fullfilled by babu he decided to remove their freinds,the communist peacefull.Nyerere said at Makere Universty while taking his degree, Uganda, infront of his colleagues Zanzibaris on their celebration about Zanzibar, that one day Zanzibar will be revolted and it will be under Mainland.
